hi im new to this , ifell down the stairs and caused cauda equina syndrome in march, i have not got proper control over my right leg ,especialy lower leg and foot drop,result is i cannot walk on it ,using crutches in the house and wheelchair outside but the main problem is bowels and bladder ,i have just started using the peristeen irrigation and being shown intiment cath in 2 weeksso things should get esier. is there anyone else out there with cauda equina that can give me any ideas for long term progress for this condition,does it heal or does it normaly stay like it is now? a new problem is if i try to stretch my leg or bang into it it goes in to a skaking spasm is this normal? any help much needed thanks
hi, i'm afraid it does'nt heal whatsoever, you are stuck with it for life,,never had the spasm but i have a dodgy right leg also,i have learnt to live with it though and hopefully you will do the same
