OK. so my husband has been getting a lot of feeling back on his left side only. Of course it's not a normal feeling or anything. Like a dull feeling he says. He can feel it if you pull the hair on his leg, or something like that. This is from head to toe, but only on the left side. He will be 2 yrs post Jan. of next year. His SCI C6/C7. He went to see his SCI specialist yesterday.
The dr's assistant was all excited about it, and seemed like it was a positive sign. So the doctor came in and didn't seem to act like it was anything, but bad. He only said if his arm started to feel weak to come see him right away.
Does anyone know what the hell that is supposed to mean? I mean what is he gonna stroke out or something because he can feel some now. I wasn't there and of course my husband didn't ask anything further. I'm sure he was disappointed with the doc's reaction.
I mean you don't expect them to say wow thats a sign your gonna jump up and walk again, but damn atleast he can feel it if somethings hurting him. You would think he could have said something positive. I like his dr. a lot and hes always very helpful, but sometimes I wonder ya know.
Has anyone else regained some feeling and been told the same thing?

It can be only a good sign. Dont worry about it. None of doctors can tell anything because they simply dont know. Its probably to early and they are afraid to say anything. Every SCI is different and it all depends on the dmg on spine and possible scar tissue. My advice is to start rehab asap and work harder then ever. GOOD LUCK. Best wishes.

I agree about the therapy, Herod.
I'm even a little surprised the Doc didn't offer up any advice to that degree? Sometimes primary doctors are just cluless regarding SCI, and just don't say anything for fear of sounding even more stupid on the matter.
Get your man to have the doc perscribe some therapy sessions and see what happens.

Thanks for your responses.
I hope my husband keeps getting feeling back. I won't let my hopes get to high. It is exciting though.
I just wish he could get the therapy his needs to see what if anything could come of it.
