Full Version: What Do U Do To Relieve Pressure While Sitting?

i just wanted to get a general idea from other peers on how and how often they either lean, forward or back, side to side, or just raise up (too hard for most quads)..

the main reason for this post is bc it's been about 8 years and thankfully no sore yet. but the last time i was at the doctors/sci hospital, another quad saw how often i was leaning all the way forward and said "man, u must be paranoid" and i know all to well, its better to be paranoid than risk it. but i would love to hear from others, just so i know.

it would be great to know that i can sit through church and not have to lean forward and worry about passing gas. lol.

as for me, i probly lean all the way down to where im looking at my feet for about 2 mins every 15 to 30 mins (but i admit, when i was in the lobby at the doctors, it was much more) but i cant help it. when im feeling that "phantom, neuropathic, butt burning" pain, i think im getting a sore..

thanks for reading.

Hubby also has never had a pressure sore, and he's been in a chair for 13 years. He loves his verilite cushion and does pressure relief perhaps every 30 minutes or so. But really, he varies the pressure relief a lot. Sometimes he'll go for hours with out lifting up (much like you do, leaning all the way forward and pushing back with his hands of his wheels to scoot forward). Everyone is different however, and if you do feel like your bum is hurting I'd certainly go ahead a lift up as much as you can.

Oh and I've never had a pressure sore either. But it's a bit different for me. I have complete feeling so if my butt hurts I get out of my chair or move around a lot ...
