Bananas can sometimes lead to constipation, something those with a spinal cord injury are prone to.

You can still eat bananas Ags, just make sure you have enough fiber in your diet to balance it out.

When my husband went through almost a year of food just going right through him, the doctor gave him some samples of prescription Probiotics (healthy bacteria for digestion) and he would take 1 with a banana smoothie every morning. When the samples ran out, I just went to the a nutrition store and got the same thing and he still takes one with banana smoothie every morning and he's much more regular now and he doesn't do a BP at all.

From what I've read, it's the under ripe bananas that cause the constipation.

Ripe bananas should be ok.

I've never really noticed any difference, but then I tend to let them ripen until the green is gone.

That is really interesting. A bit of a bummer, because as gross as it sounds, I like having some green on my bananas... haha. It gives it a sweet taste I think.

Thanks for that bit of info, Simon! I am still amazed at how much I am learning about all of this, considering how long I've been paralyzed.
