Hi everyone!

My husband and I are looking into taking a little vacation to Orlando. We have flown about 10 times since his accident but he has always taken his manual chair. We are feeling a lot more comfortable traveling and he is considering taking his power chair. It would be a lot easier on him...getting around and everything.

But we are nervous...

How different is it flying in a power chair in comparison to his manual? Do they still have his chair waiting for him when he gets off the plane? Does it have more of a chance of getting broken? Any advice?

TIA!

HI kdenon01

This summer Kim and I flew to Ca. and she took her manual chair
And her power chair. What we did was we packed up everything loose
on the power chair, put it in a big duffel bag, strapped it to the power chair and
check it as a piece of luggage. There was no extra charge. We flew Airtran
And they handled everything pretty well. We did that so she would not be without
wheels if one of the two had a problem. I hope this helps

Always take the joystick on as hand luggage.

Horsemans duffel bag suggestion is also totally the right thing to do.
If it don't make sense I blame the voice typing software misunderstanding me not my failure to listen in English classes!
