So I know this chick,.. shes friends with a guy.-we will call him guy A.(gotta keep up here) Guy A is friends with an amputee, Guy B. This chick has known Guy A for years, met guy B a few times. She told me; Guy A used to spend alot of time playing in Guy B's wheelchair, learning wheelies, doing tricks and just doing his thing. Two or three years ago guy A got into a horrible motorcycle accident, now the guy is wheelchair bound himself. From what I understand his quote was "Its alot more fun when you can actually get up and walk away from the thing" - One of those lines I'll never forget.
People say shit, but they dont know.. until you've been through severe trauma or been severly impaired you really cant sympathize. Its all talk.
Granted there are just a handful of selfless souls on this earth that would switch places.. but those guys are few and far in between and not much they can do anyways.. just wishful thinking!
Merry Christmas!

Yeah, people are annoying. Hubby & I get that line sometimes - makes me want to run into their shins with my chair. How do you like that! UG.
A couple of days ago as we were getting out of hubby's Honda Element a cluster of women gathered around and marveled at our car and how "That really works out for you guys!" Barf. I know, I know I'm bitter and the car is fascinating. I just wish people would realize we're basically like them, going about our lives (albeit sitting down) and don't want you to come up in our faces and ruin our peacefulness. I swear I'm going to make bumper stickers for our cars that say 'Gawk if you must, but leave us alone'. Yes, sooo bitter. I suppose the holidays are getting me down. I'm going to go eat some holiday candy ... oh, or pie!

haha airart, aint that the truth. I try NEVER to use my handicap card on others, when they are feeling down and having a rough time..but seriously, some ppl dont have a clue what its like to genuinely suffer. They go ON AND ON about the most superficial or temporary things.. stuff that could easily be turned around for the better with a little bit of effort. I love humanity, but it does often disappoint.

Yeah lots of people think wheelchairs are fun........when they're just playing in them.
The one I get sick of is "I wish I didn't have to work". Really! I kinda doubt that.......not when they have to trade in so much just to get that time off.......and I like to point out......SSI does NOT pay very much! Most people who earn a living make a lot more per month then what someone on SSI does. Grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.
