My boyfriend had a bullet go through his spinal cord at c-7 about 3 weeks ago. He can feel down to his nipples but can not feel his arms. He can also move his shoulders. He has a machine to breathe for him. I know it has only been 3 weeks but I heard that most of his moving functions will come back in the first 2 weeks if they are going to come back? I am not very educated on spinal cord injury's at all so if anyone could give me any hope or predictions to his condition it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Certainly no predictions,,, but it isn't uncommon for returns to happen throughout the first few years. Often little happens till after the swelling ( spinal shock) reduces itself,,, which can take months, in some cases.

More gain early is always a good thing,, but there's always room for hope.

Be patient and wait to see what can happen. Dont expect to much to quick. the most important thing right now is to be encouraging to him and be there for him when he needs you. This life can be tough but as long a you love him he will be fine. Together you two can still have a gr8 life together ...BE PATIENT! That is very important!

Indeed! These types of injuries take time and patients! Please be patient and always give him a hope with your support, love and your smile. If he sees your fear and discouragement, he will stop fighting.

yes but i cant say its good...

his dad is who told me the placement of his injury but apparently he was wrong. he got injured at c-5 not c-7.

I got to see him for the first time since it happened about 2 days ago and I just got back from seeing him again.

he is in good spirits for the most part at least...
