Took Oxybutynin back in September to prevent urinary incontinence between self catheterisations. Absolutely brilliant, episodes totally stopped. But now i have an unwanted side effect. My bowels used to empty daily with the odd miss here and there. But now going 3 days with no result.
Please note that i have had no change in diet, eating plenty of roughage fruit and vegetables . I continue to take two senna a day and my bowel programme remains as digital stimulation only. Although to gain success in the programme i now require increased stimulation. Also i have had no other drug or fluid changes.
The obvious route would be to stop the Oxybutynin 5mg daily. But it truly is a major godsend and prevents tons of accidents and the wearig of a sheath and legbag daily.
Does anyone have any tips, comments, solutions or stories as i am really fed up with this change.

Try some vodka and red bull.. Nothing cleans me out better the next day.. haha.

And rub your lower belly some.. Will help with stimulating the digestive track..

Try all those things that used to make you poop,.. coffee/alcohol/mexican food/ pasta... everyones got something...whatever gets you going..

Good luck!

Sounds like you need a pull through with a Christmas Tree!

Try MOVICOL it helps keep the stool soft.

Hope you get sorted soon.

So I take it you were hoping for a brown Christmas? :) :) I used to use a herbal formula but that used to work the other way, ended up getting explosive diarrhoea and dehydrated but it did work. Unfortunately they stopped selling it here but I will see if I can find an old box for the name. Sounds like problem solved but it is good to have plenty of weapons in your "arsenal".

Any weapon that caused me explosive diarrhea, would be one I would ban from my arsenal. If it didn't work immediately,,, and with me prepared,,, I don't think anyone would like the results.

Even if I have to dig it out with a spoon,,,, it's always better to have some control of the timing.

Glad to hear your move went well RJ,,,, ,,,,,, Chinese food and a belly rub,,,,, who knew????

Ditto ed's comments about the explosive diarrhea -- I'll take too hard over too loose any day.

My answer for the former -- 10 prunes, two fiber tabs, and four Kaopectate stool softeners (two in the morning and two at night) plus my usual gallon of water I drink every day. Guarantees me a total clean out of soft, but not loose, stool within two days.

Please note that this may be too strong for those ho do not normally struggle with constipation. I take a LOT of narcotic pain meds and eat bananas (which tend to constipate), so I can get out of whack quick.

Citrucell clear mix. Its a cellulose based fiber additive without taste. You can mix it with any liquid you want and it'll get you going in a day or two. It's not harsh, is naturally good for you, and is effective.

When in doubt, leave it to the Chinese. We have a one mile rule for Chinese buffets. If it's farther than one mile away, we probly won't make it back in time. (Includes my AB wife.

Another option, Red... or two. I got stoved up a while back (10 days!). Had to do the ER bit. A week later I had a similar episode. Just used 5 dried apricots and some sodium cytrate solution (tastes like ....). But it worked. No problem since. Hydrating like crazy seems to work best for me.
