If you can do them,,, it couldn't hurt.

I find that sometimes, if I bend forward or to the opposite side, I get better results.

Thanks ed, another question: how do I know my L3, L5 fracture is complete or incomplete? If there is complete loss of bladder and bowel control, is it complete?

Edlee is right on...movement like twisting of the trunk(abdominal area) will facilitate BM .Easier said than done,I know, but trying is key in everything.Rub your stomach using circular motions(from your right to top towards left-that is how colon's fecal matter is transported via this direction). This stimulated BM . Proper breathing technique is a valuable tool with this, at the least!

With the sitting( in wheelchair), our bowels do NOT get stimulated, thus, minimum colon movement and chances for infection.Attempts in core muscle movements-how little movements you get- is using your WILL POWER is a real good exercise if that is all you care to do in a day's workout-although I suggest ones that your PT gives you,of course

Keep at it and see for yourself!

Good luck.

To know how your spine is relative to what vertabrae is damaged is a question for your doctor/specialist !

L3 is relative to bladder control/troubles while L5 is to circulation to legs and feet.

Any exercise will help bowel movement so the answer to your question is a resounding yes
