Hello

I talked to my doctor about take the pump out so, I can get pregant but, I found out he said I can still get pregant with the pump inside of me. He said that my pump will stay same place just my tummy would stetch. He is going to double check to make sure he is right. I hope he is that would be great. I would hate to remove the pump just because I want have kids in future. Do you know my doctor sayin to me is true that it is possible?

Hi,

I know of someone who kept the pump in for the duration of her pregnancy without any problems.

If you are expecting twins though, the pump would have to be removed as the catheter delivering the baclofen to the spine would not be long enough, and may become dislodged from the spine.

Regards

Simon.

Can anyone shed any further light on this subject? I also have a baclofen pump and am wondering if it is possible to be pregnant and keep the pump? My spinal consultant seems to think that there would be complications with the growing baby and the length of the catheter attached to the spine, he thinks it could become dislodged but as he has no other patients who have had a pregnancy whilst having a pump, he is not entirely sure. I can't find any concrete info on the web....it would be great to hear from another woman who has some experience.
