Does anyone here get those steroid shots in the spine for pain relief? I am so needle-phobic! The thought of getting a needle anywhere on my body just makes my skin crawl, but I'd MIGHT almost try anything to relieve the pain I have that just won't seem to go away. Can you give me any details like:
Do they give you something to numb the area before the shot?
How long does the relief last?
Do you have any negative (or positive) side effects from this?
How frequently do you get them?
What exactly is the proceedure?
Thanks, I have such a fear of the unknown...............can you tell?

I've had 2 rounds of steroid shots in my spine for pain from a surgery, one month apart. Hasn't done a thing yet, I thought it was very painful- the doctor gave me one on each side of my spine- and afterwards for 3 days I had lumps on both sides of my back. Sorry to be the downer of the group, but just wanted to share my experience. I am in the process of finding another doctor. I do not want to go through those shots again.
