HI,

i had to go to london today - which nrmally isn't a problem. i usually travel by Virgin trains and have no issues - they are helpful have seating etc and the trains run where they are supposed to.

firstly my first class ticket was ok, until i discovered that in london midland (a new train operator on my line) do not have space for wheelchairs in first class!! obviously we are second class citizens!. So i got out my chair and left it in the doorway area, my friend with me had to keep moving it every time we stopped.

Then, suddenly the train terminated at northampton - and we were told to get off and transfer to anther train - i got no assistance at all. and in the confusion left my handbag on the train. When i realised (on way to london) there was no one on trian to help. i eventually got a off duty virgin guard helping me ring the northampton station who did not want to help at all.

When i arrived at london - no help there at the station either, had to manhandle me off the train.

I am in process of sorting out lost handbag (including passport) but reallly pissed of with london midland - we paid extra to travel bag by virgin. who are so much more helpful

rant over

I have nothing productive to offer :) Sorry-I have lived in Bromley Kent for several years (near london) and it stinks (bromley is great and surrounding areas) but i cant stand london. You have to "travel" with the crowds / packed noisy and irritating and the staff/guards etc are worse.
I dont like crowds at the best of times but being herded like cattle...
Its a pain for AB - must have been hell for you.
take care Keep smiling
Nickle.

Sure hope your bag is found. Sorry you had a nightmare journey, not unusual l here. My daughter had to travel often to London for hospital appointments, she is on crutches, but no help either. Also at Kings X the distance from where the train used to come in to where the taxi rank was is a very long way. Some Taxi drivers very helpful and some not. so that is how it goes. I think all travelers seem to be 2nd class citizens No wonder so many people choose to go by car. and with regard to trains, would be nice if they were not so high up, with that gap,

Cate

I don't have anything "productive" to say about your day. But I do hope a virtual hug will help at least a little. :) Sorry your day was so lousy.......and that you got what I call "sit down classed down" treatment......if you HAVE TO sit down chances are you'll get treated as though of a lesser class. :D

yep i get you. its why i started travelling on the accessible coaches instead of trains but i do agree that virgin are probably the best of the bunch (with the exception of Leeds; but thats another story)
