Funnily enough I have just started dating again since my injury, I must admit it really isn't any different, the two things I would bare in mind is

Access? Can he get in and out easily enough?

Disabled loo? Is there one near by? For me this is essential as I do intermittent catheters, no idea what he does though!

Good Luck with whatever you choose to do :)
But have you tried walking?

Hi

I'd suggest coffee/drinks later afternoon then there's always the option of making it dinner if you both wish! Sunday afternoon might be best as it is most likely to be quieter. Check out the access and whether there's a suitable loo. If you can always best to check yourself as when I have called over the phone and they said the place was suitable for chairs we've arrived and it's not been the case.

The above worked for me and my man (chair user) and we've been together for nearly a year, and just moved in together.

Good luck!

definately "access" - i have recently started seeing a para lass and thats been my biggest error. Basically now i walk around everywhere seeing if i can get through gaps with a foot space either side of me and if there are "zero" steps. If thats a "go" then we can take it. If i cant get around like that neither will she.
second tip-have a backup plan what if you go to place one and it was fine earlier and now its packed? especially if its first time out.
Thankfully LIR is pretty understanding with me and more then once we ended up witha coffee to take away and sat on a park bench. - just roll with it.
good luck! :0)
now we know where all the coffee houses are and what has and doesnt have access. However I have tried taking her to pubs/coffee shops with the smallest of steps to find she cant get in. :0(
plan plan plan.
take care
Nickle.

Apart from the usual stuff of makings sure there is suitable parking, bathroom facilities etc., if this is your very first date I would say go to the movies then maybe grab a bite to eat afterwards, then you can watch the movie without the pressure to make conversation and then have something to talk about over a meal afterwards :mfrlol:.

Just another thought, if this is your first date post-injury then I think that's still a good plan so that he can get comfortable during the movie and then have a chat over a meal to reduce any anxiety either of you may feel.
