have any of you every started bleeding while inserting a cathader. If so how do you stop the bleeding, and how do you stop this from happening?

see your urologist, bleeding shouldnt happen.

This does not sound good.
Maybe you should see a doctor.

Its happened to me on a two occasions, I was careless. Make sure you use some sterile KY and just be gentle. The 1st time it happened the bleeding stopped within a few minutes but it wasnt heavy bleeding. After the 1st time it happened I saw my urologist and he checked and no damage was done, he said I irritated tissue inside and it was nothing serious, told me just to be gentle and use lube. Also make sure your catheters are always in good condition, obviously.

yup I had bleeding under these 2 conditions:

When I inserted the cathether too roughly, i.e I tried to push it in when the bladder opening is too tight.
2nd, when I had UTI. Just do it gently.

did that (made myself bleed) a few times when I used to cath - spastic bladder wouldn't "let me in". I had to lie down for about a half hour, get relaxed, then insert the cath. Pain in the butt. Got the supra pubic instead. Glad I did.

Yes being a bit rough can cause this and you should mention it to your doc if it becomes a regular thing. But don't worry too much, a little blood goes a very long way and can look pretty scary.
