We sat down with our contractor to make our house as accessible as possible on our budget. All doors are 36 inches wide with T-handles. If possible, make the bathroom big enough for the WC to turn around in; at least a 3-4 feet square area in front of the toilet. I empty my leg-bag myself into the toilet, so I like it accessible enough to flop the bag up over the rim. You can get a toilet that is slightly higher than standard if you want to do the poop deal in the bath room instead of on a commode. You'll need clearance for the WC on at least one side of the toilet for transfers on and off. I use a commode and do bowel care in our bedroom at night; it's easier for me that way. When I'm done, I transfer into bed and go to sleep.

We had a roll-in shower put in. It's about 3 by 5 feet and I can roll into in my wheelchair or new shower/commode chair on wheels. Nice. It has a hand-held shower head in the end of a 3 foot flexible hose instead of the standard fixed shower head. Works fine for both of us. Good to be able to rinse off all over easily and for washing your hair. Sorry I don't have pictures.
