Some members on here have ended up with serious SCI following relatively modest accidents, others more dramatic accidents etc, but I was really surprised by something I seen on TV recently. I am not sure how old the program was but it was talking about accidents people have survived. On case was a young boy being knocked off his bicycle by a car. He ended up being internally decapitated (ie attachment between skull and C1 was broken. X-Rays showed his head to be about 2 inches removed from C1. Everyone expected him to end up a complete quad on ventilation etc. However he recovered everything but control of one arm!!!!!

I've just about seen it all after almost 35 years. Probably the oddest was a paraplegic paralyzed from the waist to the shoulders.

I've seen that program, poor little kid.. even I thought he would die once they got to moving him around. Amazingly enough he only broke bones, no cord/stem ares were affected. If you watch Discovery Health Channel enough you're bound to see it all, from disfigurements to disabilities to the 'Medical Incredible'.. All interesting.

I've never heard of a case like that noles1984, sounds intriguing!
