Hi folks. My friend is lying in a hospital in Perth Australia. He picked up some kind of infection and it has totally destroyed his spinal chord and because of this he is completely paralysed from the neck down. He can't breath, swallow or speak and we're trying to find some way that will let him use a PC.

He can move his eyes and he can mouth some words but these actions are very difficult to interpret. Is there something on the market that we can get him. I think there must be as I know that Steven Hawking seems to have the same condition but is able to use a computer.

Time really isn't on our side as the medical team are very concerned as his immune system is also damaged beyond repair and they are very fearful that he may pick up some life-threatening infection.

We hope that he may get home soon, but that decision is still in the lap of the gods.

Any help gratefully received.

There are a few different options out there I think, one is the Eye Gaze system which I believe a few people on here use, or something similar. Hopefully they will be able to give you more information.
Good luck
