I'm sure it was a hellish one year that you wouldn't want to relive.

I'm coming close to my two year mark. Last year my closest friends and family members celebrated my one year by having a big party. I think we're going to do my second year celebration at a strip club... Oh I love naked women...haha

Congrats on surviving your first year. You'll still have ups and downs... but if you experiences are going to be anything like mine, then you'll be happier each and every new day.

Best of luck,

James

I am sure most of us "oldtimers" here would agree that the first year is by far the worst, and if your first year pasted so quickly imagine how the rest of them will speed past.

Just hang in there and go with the flow. I don't know where my nearly nine years have gone.

Funny how it works huh?...Like for me; On the one hand it feels as if it was just yesterday, on the other hand it seems as if i've been in this chair for a decade already...

It will be a year for me on March 1st. It doesn't feel like that long at all.

The first year is always brutal. Mine was hell. It's been 11 years for me now and trust me, it DOES get better. The time in rehab and when you first get home is always confusing and scary for most people. Though I also can't believe it's been 11 years for me. And for me it also feels like it's been forever yet it feels like it's only been since yesterday. It's a weird feeling.

"You'll still have ups and downs... but if you experiences are going to be anything like mine, then you'll be happier each and every new day." Amen that too ( I still dont know how to properly quote people it)

Every day is def easier, the SCI seems to define me less and less each day. I never thought I'd be this ok with myself a year ago!

The bad news buckcrazy.. so people never "level out" the most they can do is just get used to it, try not to let it bother you so much! Hopefully things level out for you though!

Congrats on making it through your first year :dev: As others have said it can be the toughest...but as you adjust to this new lifestyle it does get better.

On May 7th it will be 31 years rollin on this fine planet. There are times when SCI or other health issues make moments crawl slower than the proverbial snail, but for the most part the years seem to jet by. Three decades with SCI, five decades lived so far...still so much more life to experience for this oldtimer.

My best to you M@CHINE, keep living life.

Jerry

I reached my 1 year mark back in December 08. Things are still physically changing for me at this stage so who's to know what will go wrong or go right in the future. So far I have suffered and survived being seriously scalded and more recently getting an infection in my left big toe (the one I can't feel, so didn't realise I had cut myself when trimming my toe nails. Oh well chin up.

i haven't regained any movement, but i have noticed that i am starting to feel cold/warm water when i shower and when my wife touches my legs. it's so faint but it's there and has developed over the past few years. i have t7/t8 complete injury. also, on occasions i tend to "think" i can flex my thigh muscles a bit.

Hi, new to this site, but it's my one year anniversary today. Is the worst really over? Seem very busy with recovery, slight improvements all the time.

It will be my two year anniversary on Feb. 26th. My first year showed the most progress. But that is no reason to slow down in your therapy.

The time does go by quickly. I sometimes wonder if we live in the same space and time as able bodied people and do they want it to go by as quick? What are we hurrying to?

The first year was the worst. I lived the day and time down until the accident counting how long my husband had to live, but each year has gotten better. This Aug.4th will be nine yrs. for me. I am a T4 complete and have not regained any feeling. Just know it does get easier.
