Hi My name is josh and I have been a t8 paraplegice for 7 years now. So recently i had my first surgery regarding a pressure sore on my tail bone it was supposed to be a basic skin graph but it didnt take. In the process of the surgery the doctor had to cut away alot of damaged tissue so the cut is literally three times bigger than it was it now looks like a pear. I was released 3 days later and every since the surgery i wasnt able to have a bowel movement, at the same time I started getting chills cold sweats and fevers up to 101 I was admitted to the hospital after not being able to have a bowel movement despite many attempts using over the counter meds. The hospital took care of that i no longer have the bowel issue but the fever persists at first doctors thought the fevers were autonomic dysreflexia because i wasnt able to use the bathroom. Now they have no explaination for the fever I have already had tons of blood test and urinary test still no signs of infection or cause of fever. I am starting to get scared now. I honestly think its because of the size of the cut but doctors arent convinced so they postponed my surgery until they can figure out whats going on. has anyone ever experienced anything close to this or atleast have you experienced unexplained fevers like me? :P

Hi Josh, I broke my femur but didn't know it, I couldn't have a BM so I went to the doctor and they gave me some concoction that was guaranteed to give me a BM no luck so they X ray me and sent me home. I got a call telling me to go to hospital because they had seen the broken leg in the X-ray, they repaired the leg and my BM's returned to normal. I had chills and a low grade fever but no infection after the break, after the leg healed it went away. My guess is that your body is reacting to the wound. SCI's make no since. Hey don't let the guy that did the operation touch you again demand a specialist. Good luck................

Hey Thanks for the input Im scheduled for a full body CT and X-Rays on monday hopefully they'll find something. As far as specialist go My sci doctor says that the plastic surgeon is one of the best that they come hes is head plastic surgeon at Northwestern while I have trust that they will find whats wrong with me Im eager for it to happen soon because these fevers and chills are really interfering with my job and social life i have no energy for anything. Thanks for sharing your experiences with me. Also how long did it take for the fevers and chills to subside?
