I have had a 'super pube tube' for 8 years and have never wore a bag. I use a little yellow plug they sell. I don't use a bag because of the fear of my bladder atrophying and dying. I have a paralyzed bladder only.

O.K. I am thinking of trying to self cath again due to fear of bladder cancer. I have been bleeding in my urine about once a week or so for the past 4 months. This could be a tumor or trauma caused by pulling out the cath.

For the past 4 months the cath has been getting crusted with white build up. Very difficult to pull out and the crust breaks off and stays in the bladder only to fall via gravity into the penis and has to be forced out. I can push a little of urine out normally.

Anyone know about how to stop the white 'calcium' formation???

Anyone know about the chances of getting bladder cancer from an indwelling???

As for the cancer from an indwelling,,, I would say about the same chance as with intermitant,,, I hadn't used anything but IC since early in rehab,, and had a cancerous growth removed about a year ago.

They can scope you,,, without much discomfort,,, I have to have it done once a year for the next five,,, I am told. Mine was small enough that I didn't need any chemo afterward.

But since you have bleeding,,,,,, as did I,,,,, you need to get it checked SOONER than later.

Luck,,
