I'm trying to be a bit "upbeat" and thought it might be interesting to see how many "advantages" we could think of about using a wheelchair.
I've not managed many myself:

1. You never have to fight for a seat.

2. You can "accidently" roll over the toes of someone you don't like and they will probably apologise to you!

3. You're not going to fall over and break your wrist when the pavements are icy.

4. Here in the UK your wife (or anyone else) can get into the cinema free with you as your assistant.

Can anyone think of any others.

You can drink as much as you can and still not stager! ;)

1.) We have our own special parking spaces.

2.) Us guys have a nice view when were strolling behind the ladies. ;)

3.) We get a check once a month for doing practicly nothing.

I think that's all I can come up with for now.

Yasko, You can obviously handle it better than I can. I usually bash my knuckles on a door frame when I've had too many - and I've got wide doors and a narrow chair!

I've just thought of another one:

We have sloping ceilings in our upstairs rooms and I can use more of the room than my wife!

I never ruin or wear out my shoes. As a shoe lover, this is a big plus. I've got dozens of pairs of shoes and they all look almost brand new for the most part!! :)

It's definitely better to try and see the positive, light-hearted side of things. Sure, we'd all rather be walking but we're not and sometimes humor can really help.

Have you seen how old Hugh Hefner looks these days? You want that?

I like it when I'm headed for the local shops and I've got a long gentle downhill slope - next best thing to floating on air as I effortless glide pass the walkers (and scattering a few heading my way).

Like my hotrod, my chair gives me another cool project to trick out!

Unlike when I was skateboarding, I can now haul arse through the inside of a mall while doing tricks and the security guards can't call the cops on me!!!

I'm faster in my chair, then I was walking.

Free meter parking

Head of the line on roller coasters

...That's all I can think of off hand at the moment...

That's awesome! If you are in La Jolla with me for the surfing in June, I am totally gonna make you trick out my chair for me while I'm there!!! :)

I wouldn't even know what parts to buy or what to do to make it cooler. I've never even tried to trick out a chair before. I'd like the new chair (the quickie Ti) to just be really nimble, do really good turns, go fast, and be able to withstand the serious abuse I put my chairs through, etc. Speaking of chairs, I somehow managed to go over backwards in mine on the sidewalk yesterday, trying to get up over an incline. I don't even know how it happened. I am absolutely convinced that my current chair knows that within a week or so, I will have my new chair and it's now trying to KILL ME. Luckily a friend was behind me and was quick-thinking enough to put catch the back of my chair as I was going down. I still hit the ground but not nearly as hard as I would have if he hadn't been there. It was totally embarassing. Some guy in a car actually pulled over and jumped out, freaking out and asking if I was okay. Yikes!!!! PM me if you've got a min and give me some ideas, tips, etc. :yikes:

IDK about the rest of you, but bartenders comp my tab a few drinks almost every time. The way people stop whatever they're doing to watch me get onto and off the barstool is hilarious (A couple have even spilled drinks while watching). Also, I have an excuse to not "step out of the vehicle" if I get pulled over. lol. Now have an excuse for speeding-"Officer, do you have any idea how difficult it is to find a wheelchair accessible bathroom on I-35?" The looks I get when getting into and out of my truck are priceless. Chicks dig wheelchair sex. We don't pay tax on vehicles. When somebody brags about the 20" rims on his/her car, I laugh and say "I roll on 24s all day, and your little 20s are supposed to impress me? Hell, my chair is worth more than those little wheels." (I'm just a smartass.) When guys start showing off scars, I like to wait until the second round of scars, and then I lift the shirt and show the scar that runs from about T-7 or so all the way past my waistband, and the one that starts at my bellybutton and runs below the waistband up front... Usually shuts up the idiots that think they're big tough guys, and gets some really cool reactions (reactions are priceless). All the crazy drunks that always want to fight never even think of trying to start shit with the guy in the wheelchair cause they know the whole crowd would kick the shit out of them. My wheelchair lift will pick up a Yamaha R6 (interesting to know...). I plan on getting a motorcycle, so the wheelchair on the back could generate some pretty cool reactions too. The absolute coolest thing about using a wheelchair is still the rugby chairs. Even though I can't play, I still think those chairs are the coolest thing I have seen in a long time, and would love to have one just to ram shit with.

:) HELL YES! I don't play chair rugby nor do I have any desire to but I LOVE the idea of having one of those mad max chairs just to ram into stuff and bash things around (including ignorant assholes who think people in chairs are circus freaks)!
