My friend's mom had a interbody fusion surgery in Russia 6 months ago. But it turns out that the screw was too deep (5mm more) so it touchs the nerve. You can imagine how painful she is. The problem is that the bone of the spine has already grew with the screw. The doctor in Russia said it is a very dangerous and difficult surgery now and they don't want to do the surgery in Russia anymore. Can anyone give us some advice? Such as which country or doctor is recommended? What should be noticed? Any special about this kind of surgery? We need as much informations as possible right now. By the way, is Switzerland a good place to do the surgery? THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!

Hi hazel... :D

I'm from the US...my neurosurgeon practices in Chicago at NorthWestern...I have the utmost confidence in him, and although I'm not necessarily suggesting that you come all the way to Chicago, if you'd like I could give you his address and he would be happy to read any medical reports you send and refer you to an appropriate place for treatment near your location. He and his associate are known world-wide for their treatment of spinal cord anomalies, so I'm thinking he'd have some input for you.

If you'd like his address or phone number, just e-mail or personal message and I'd be glad to get that to you.
