Hi all,
I am looking at going to Orlando for my honeymoon for two weeks next year but am having difficulty in finding information as to getting around on public transport and wheelchair accessible taxi's etc.
Does anyone know how it's done in the states as in the uk its normally a black cab.

Any help deeply appriciated

These companies rent accessible vans, I've never rented one since I can transfer to a regular car but if you need a van this is a good place to start looking.

For taxis I've heard the best place to call is Mears at 407-422-2222. I've never used them but I've heard they have accessible taxis that they will dispatch to your location. You might want to give them a call before arriving in Orlando to make sure they'll be able to suit your needs.

I've never tried public transportation but it's handled by Lynx.

If you're staying on-site at a Walt Disney World hotel all of the buses on Disney property have wheelchair lifts/ramps and tie down areas. If you're going from the airport to Disney World and back and not visiting any other places you can get by without any worries at all because the Disney Magical Express and the Disney buses are great!

Have a fantastic trip! I'm heading to Walt Disney World next month and I'm just using the Disney transportation.
Just a regular guy making his way through life.

We are wanting to go someday too! So I have already done a bit of research on it!

You need to check out the I-Ride trolly. http://www.iridetrol...atureTravel.asp

There is where it tells you that it is wheelchair accessible. And if you go to maps, etc....you can read more about it. It's a pretty good deal too!

Oh yeah, and Wheelchair Getaways [previous poster] is fantastic! We have been leasing a van through them for almost 3 years now!
