Think retrofit,,,,, unless you just got a big settlement, custom ordering of a new one won't be possible,,, at least not from my financial standpoint.

A lift from a bus will get the height you need and turning the existing bathroom into a "wet room" ought to do what you want a lot cheaper than new.

I also saw an ad in Modern Mobility a while back for a used one ,, but can't find the back issues,,, must have tossed them.

I saw a company in the USA called El Monte RV. They used to hire out an RV with hand controls but I am not sure of the extent of the other mods. There is a guy here in New Zealand, he did one from scratch and set it up as a business. He can claim all the depreciation and losses from his tax account. He talked to me in depth about the mods on his, from a hoist to recessed door handles on the cupboards. You may want to chat to him via email. His address is www.mobilitymotorhomes.co.nz and there are a few details on there. His old one is for sale and he is replacing it so it must have worked pretty well for him.

The guy I mentioned may be in New Zealand but has photos on his website and is pretty helpful. With the internet you don't have to go there, just take a look at the pics. I usually find the big rental companies can't be bothered to let you know any details. Perhaps you'd be better going to a company who manufactures mobility vans and get the company you choose to build your RV (if you are still keen on going down the brand new track) to liase with them with regard to what you need. Things like platform lifts are extremely expensive as often the chassis has to be cut and modified to accommodate it unless you are entering from the rear of the motorhome which introduces a whole new set of issues.

If in US try www.handicappedtravelclub.com, it is a group of mostly RVers that have an annual RV rally once a year in different parts of the US. They are working with a company that will soon come out with handicapped accessible units to pull behind a truck or big van with roll-in showers. Also a RV place in Daytone Beach, FL has a motorhome to rent. See all on that site. www.disableddealer.com also has used RV's in the US for sale.
