One of the most annoying situations I find with my paraplegia is the "bands of pressure" for most of this weekl I have suffered from a 6" band of pressure that wraps around my torso just under my breasts...feels like it is suffocating me (although I know it isn't) but it feels like it just the same!
Does anyone else suffer from this? It is so annoying!

My b/f mentions the same thing - somewhere between pain and pressure, hard for him to describe. I always thought it was his abdominal muscles contracting when he has leg spasms. When it happens he lets out a "whoof" as if he just got the wind knocked out of him. It used to scare me but he reassured me that it doesn't hurt exactly, it's just "pressure."
Again, no solutions,
just emphathy.

I have the same sensation drives me crazy i don't know what can be done about it though just know your not alone.
Thank you evilmac,
yea it drives me nuts too..didn't know how to explain it to my docs until a spinal bifida patient at the rehab used the term "band of pressure" which described it to the tee! Mine feels numbing tightness, like being constricted by a snake..it isn't always in the same place but it is always in my mid section.
Just one of those little things to get used to.

Mine's a little lower,,, same as you, right at the injury level. Mine is more pain than pressure.
Just another day in para dise.

I really don't have any pain to say..just a constricting pressure that feels like I can't breathe at times.
