Dear Members

I am currently undertaking a BSc(Hons) Degree in Emergency Practice at the University of Derby and as part of my studies, I am required to undertake a dissertation in order to complete the programme. I have decided to look at the signs and symptoms of Autonomic Dysreflexia (AD) and its management in the pre-hospital setting by healthcare professionals.

My intention is to create more awareness of AD and develop a guide for use within the ambulance service and Out of Hours GP service. In order to achieve this, I require some information from other forum members about their experiences of AD and its management in the community. This can be positive or negative and include any recommendations from yourselves about what you would like to happen or not happen as the case may be.

Any information or stories you have to share in relation to AD will be treated as confidential for the purpose of my studies.

Now a little bit of information about me: I have been a nurse since 1993 and worked on the Spinal Injury Unit at RNOH Stanmore in 1991. Most of my career has been spent in Accident & Emergency Nursing but I now work in pre-hospital care as a nurse practitioner. I am married and have twin sons who are still in infant school so as you can imagine, life is very busy trying to balance family life with work and current studies.
I look forward to receiving any replies which will assist with my study...... Thankyou
