Those "lawn chair" wheelchairs are actually given - and made at a very low cost - to developing countries for the disabled that can't afford our "fancy" chairs that we roll in. When hubby & I were in China back in '05 we saw patients at the hospital we were staying at riding around in them and parked in various spots around the hospital. It really blew our minds. At first we were like what the heck are those things?! Then it sunk in, and we felt like such jerks complaining about our 5 year old quickies that were a bit clunky to us. Every where we went all the doctors and nurses admired our chairs reiterating the fact that we are sooo lucky.

Okay, I just found a picture from china with one of those chairs in it. If you squint at the upper left corner you can see it.

Having just this week gotten a brand new electric wheel chair from the VA, and then reading this thread, I think I'll work on my sense of gratitude for a while.
