Hi- I am new to this. My husband ws in a snowmobiling accident a few weeks ago and has central cord compression. He is expected to make close to a full recovery in the next year or so. However, in the meantime, he is self-employed and we have 2 small chicldren. Being self-employed with no disability insurance I'm concerned about how to keep it all going. I know Social Security is not an option bacuse I dont think he would qualify. I feel quite selfish here as our situation will resolve to some degree. Any thoughts?

Don't rule out social security completely,,,, never hurts to try,,, also look into your state funded medicaid, and vocational rehabilitation. There are safety nets out there,,, problem is knowing where to look.

Where are you located??? There may well be someone here, who is nearby and knows what is available.
