My bladder incontinence can keep me busy for 4hrs a day, which doesn't make me happy. I've been offered an operation where part of the bowel is transfered to the bladder to extend capacity. I would love to hear from anyone who has had this op. I know nothing of a brindle operation is this a good option. The other one is cutting the nerve to bowel and bladder making both flacid, great for bladder but not so good for bowel. Being complete i'm told that pain won't be an issue but i can feel my organs, plus spasm with unfelt pain or go disreflexic. Can anyone who has had this op. contact me

Do you have good hand function? If so, ask a urologist about the artificial urinary sphincter. I have it, and it is AWESOME! If you want to know more about it before talking to the urologist, you can go HERE. The page also describes the sling surgery. Either one seems to me a better alternative if possible. With the sling, the hand function requirement isn't as strict as with the AUS. Hope this helps.

Hi Fleur
I had that op (section of bowel removed and sewn into bladder wall to enlarge) about 17 years ago and it's been a fantastic success.
The reason for the op in my case was to relieve pressure from a tight bladder causing backup to the kidneys. It's done that effectively and the great bonus was a super efficient bladder using intermittant catheterisation. Previously, I had a uridome/legbag arrangement which clumsily managed a bladder that couldn't be trusted. I've gone so long now without any leakage that, honestly, I can't remember when it last happened but it was years ago.
But....always a but, it is a big op and will knock you for a few weeks. For me it's been well worth it and more but I guess everyone has to be prepared for their own unique outcome.
Feel free to PM me if you've got specific questions.
