Hi
Sorry to post here but I'd like some feedback. A Stevep posted a question about a family friendly holiday for himself and family on the Spinal Injury website linked here
http://www.spinal.co.uk/messageboard/defau...=3&id=5369&f=13
I tried 3 posts just introducing our link and a very brief resume of what we offer - non appeared and now I've had this:
"Good Afternoon,

My apologies for this email being so delayed, I have been away on leave.

Unfortunately the message board operates a strict no solicitation policy, any posts that are deemed to be business motivated are stopped by our moderators before they get to the message board.

I believed this posed a problem in that certain messages (like the recent ones you have both posted) fall into both categories, aimed to help a fellow member and may be slightly business orientated. To try and work a reasonable way around this we introduced the ‘sponsored links’ section of the site. To ensure the impartiality of the message board please can we direct holiday questions to this section allowing a choice of companies, rather than directing to a specific website.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter, as always please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any queries or problems regarding this.

Kindest Regards,

Nick Youens"

I can understand why there is a block for spamming but I regularly post and have never promoted our villa unless a RELATED question is asked such as tis one. I'm an SIA member and we advertise with them. What are your thoughts please?

Hi Simon,

I think the problem at SIA is they have a "blanket policy" of stopping all business information.

In my view, their policy should be "at the webmasters discretion". This would allow them to post members interests without contradicting themselves.

Also, the moderated time delay is really annoying, which is a major factor in holding back the incentive to post there.

Of course, you could always point their posters over here! :P

As you know by now, as long as the information is on-topic and not blatent spam, I'll allow most posts to stay here. If fact, you don't even have to be a member to post here (but it helps)!

Regards

Simon

I just fired off a reply to the SIA post, lets see if your link will make it through if the villa is mentioned by someone else!

Funnily enough, I just moaned to SIA about their dreadful message board set-up in an email a couple of days ago.

I haven't had a reply yet.

I'm sure my moan won't change anything, except it made me feel better for a while.

Well, I am not more keen on the SIA board than anyone else. I have complained on a number of occasions as to their policy of pre-moderation including odd phone calls for something they didn't like. Franly, as we see here, this is not a problem and we just keep posting with Simon deleting things he doesn't like later.

Finally, with the SIA board attractin much less traffic than this one, I had my user name deleted and stayed here. I seriously recommend other to do this. I do also go to another board (delete here if you like Simon) Andy's Site (up to here) as well.

Thanks Simon. That's the stupidity of their rules really, you can plug me, can't plug myself though. Although your site is obviously deemed non commercial as they let you plug yourself!
Have added a plug for you too below your post.
