Has anybody with a spinal injury ever had a twisted/ tilted pelvis? If so, how did it get treated? I was in hospital in december and when i came home my wife noticed one leg considerably shorter than the other when she was helping me get dressed and when i sit in my chair i am now getting squinter by the day, with one side of my pelvis pointing upwards and outwards whilst the other is halfway round my backside. The spasms and sweating are crazy, so i know something is hurting. I know it's an easy process if you are able bodied to get it manipulated back into place but for a paraplegic i am unsure, so any experiences of such a situation would be appreciated as i am going to the doctor on Monday and sometimes they are not much good with me... i need to give them the diagnosis half the time!

many thanks

Hi Interpol
Dont know if this will help or not but i am seeing a reflexologist in Prestwick who also practices the Bowen Technique. I might post sometime to see if anybody else has tried this, but when i first saw him 2 weeks ago he said my pelvis was all lying out of place and tilted. This week he said i had improved a bit, bit i am still a bit sceptical. He wants to see me another 2 times, so i will see if it improves. Look up The Bowen Technique on the interweb and you will get info on it. Hope this helps.

I have a twisted pelvis, but its because my back has turned round slightly due to the back muscles not being able to keep the spine straight.. I think it happens to most of us and the only thing I do is use a Roho Quadro cushion so at least I can sit *flat*. Never really thought about treating it.. not really sure why I'd bother.

thanks for your replies, i am having it investigated soon by my usual consultant, as it is really becoming worse each day and my belly button is now in the midddle of my right thigh!! i feel like one of those dolls that you can swivel at the waist... action man type of course! So i will keep you posted on the outcome, maybe it is just muscle weakness , who knows?

cheers

I am guessing but it maybe caused by poor positioning, have you changed anything to do with your chair or bed?
OR
It maybe spasm's are reacting to some undiagnosed stimulus/pain and are shortening the muscles and tendons on one side creating the pivot.

thanks to all of you that replied to this for me, just to update you all, finally after 3 months of begging various health professionals to x ray me about this problem and getting fobbed off, i have now been given the great news that i have a broken hip!! i have been in hospital for two weeks and they have told me the fracture is over three months old... it coincides with an operation i had in december, for various reasons i cannot say any more, but i would just like to say to everyone if you feel you have something wrong and you KNOW YOU HAVE SOMETHING WRONG , don't let the so called experts tell you that you are wrong and imply you are neurotic , i am now maimed for life. A relative of mine is a nurse and on seeing my xray she has never seen anything so nasty in her career.. a 4 month old displaced , broken neck of femur!!

Does anyone know any SI's who have had hip replacements??

Hi there,

I have quite a twisted pelvis. It's getting more and more noticable and I hate it!! My right hip is now quite a bit higher than my left :toast:

I'm going to be getting a new Jay cushion (2 or 3 can't remember) so I'm hoping that'll help.

I hope your consultant is helpful!
