I posted this once on the spouse/carer's section, but then thought I'd be better over here. My daughter and I would like to move to the Tri-Valley area (Dublin/Livermore/Pleasanton, CA) but can't afford the housing prices as our only income these days is her SSI and my IHSS. We know from our SCI Support Group how difficult it can be for other SCI folks to find good caregivers and so came up with the idea of exchanging housing for care. Anyone out there (para or quad) who needs excellent, experienced in-home care and has room in their home for us? Two bedrooms would do it, one for me and one for her. I have a background in nursing care (twelve years as a Navy corpsman), worked for welfare departments for ten years and so speak fluent bureaucrat-ese, and have two years experience caring for my daughter (T9 Complete). I can cook, too.
