Just wondered what concerts or shows everyone has lined up?

Here's my current schedule:

The Prodigy - Nottingham Trent FM Arena - 11 April 2009

Blue Man Group - Nottingham Trent FM Arena - 13 May 2009

Jimmy Carr - Nottingham DMH - 22 May 2009

Walking with Dinosaurs - Nottingham Trent FM Arena - 19 July 2009

Michael McIntyre - Nottingham Trent FM Arena - 25 September 2009

Eddie Izzard - Nottingham Trent FM Arena - 24 October 2009

Depeche Mode - Birmingham LG Arena - 13 December 2009

The access and parking is very good at all the above venues.

Hi Simon,

About two weeks ago I went down to London on my own for 2 nights and saw the Lion King at the Lycuum Theatre. The access to the theatre, it's toilets and the stalls were fine. Also, I was only charged £20 (half price) for my ticket and was given a space about 6 rows back from the front of the stage, where they had removed a seat which I parked my wheelchair in.

Generally I found the streets of London fairly accessible with lots of drop curbs, only problem was that some of the shops/resteraunts had steps at the entrance so was unable to get in as I was on my own. But, then again most of these places were places I wouldn't go in anyway.

Stayed at the 'Travelodge' in Covent Garden as I've found that this range of hotels seems to have the best adapted rooms compared with of most of the hotels I've stayed in, plus they are reasonably priced.

Last year I went to a Newton Faulkner gig at the Manchester Appollo, again the facilties were fine and there was a raised platform at the back of the adotorium for for us disabled, which provided a decent unobstructed view of the stage.

I will be seeing Newton Faulkner again in June of this year at the Royal Opera House in Buxton, again tickets are half price and will be going alone.

Later

Sean

There's disabled parking at the back of the Trent Arena in Nottingham, and you can park outside the doors at the LG Arena.

This Friday hubby and I are going to see Louis C.K. in LA. We're super excited!

The last comedians we saw were Eddie Izzard (in San Diego) and Brian Regan (in LA) - totally hilarious :) We also saw Wayne Brady in Vegas a few weeks ago - not as funny as the show 'Who's Line is it Anyway?' but still funny.

Sounds like you've got some fun stuff lined up, Simon. :)

I went to Mayhem Festival last year to see Slipknot & Disturbed. I'm hoping to go to Mayhem Festival again this Summer though I have not found out who will be in the line-up. Their line-up always has enough stuff to keep me happy. And we have to make sure that it will be at Cricket Amphitheater and NOT COX Arena. Cricket had great seating available throughout available for the disabled but COX you get 2 choices; the VERY back row OR the floor.....which for most of what I like is the "MOSH PIT". Not something I'd advise.......I've seen enough AB come out of there bloody.

All I can usually afford though is small club gigs so since they're just local bands I'll just leave it at "Jumping Turtle" & "4th & B" (the clubs I go see bands at).

By the way Simon I LOVE Depeche Mode! (I don't love just heavy metal) That would be an awesome show to see.

I saw Zappa Does Zappa here March 5th it was a real treat. These folks are at the top of their profession a pleasure to experience. It was part performance art, rock opera and a tribute to Frank Zappa's music. Dweezil Zappa is an accomplished musician in his own right, the show is a mix of his and his dads stuff. If you sit up front take ear protectors because it's LOUD.

are you going Simon, or are you a ticket tout?

Fair play that a loaded schedule.

I'm going to see the blue man group as well but I'm seeing the Cardiff date which I believe is the 15th of May.

Other music events I'm going to are Oasis at the Cardiff millennium and then the following night Elton John back in Bristo.

Cannot remember the dates think they are around the middle of summer.

Sports events are

The Ashes at Edgbaston

And a one-day international against the West Indies in Bristol.

I'm a little bit worried about cricket in Bristol as it in May which is was a bit dodgy weatherwise.

Sorry Jane, just saw your reply!

Unfortunately, we always eat before we go, so I'm not too sure about places to eat.

Walrus, I saw Slipknot in December last year at Newcastle Arena with Children of Bodom and Machine Head. Utterly amazing.

If the 'wheelchair platform' is anything like as good as the one at Newcastle Arena, you're in for a treat. :dunno:
