(This is coming from a new kid on the block.)

My db just informed me how much he hates is brand new Permobil C300 Corpus. He's had it a little over 3 months but JUST had his van refitted for the new lockdown, which cost him $600. He's been using a Quickie T200 and loves it, but thought a new chair with the features of the C300 would be good for him. He's a C5-6 Quad, 30+ years.

After using the new chair every once in awhile. he would always complain about it - it's uncomfortable, the lumbar supports don't feel good, the chair doesn't steer well especially in thight spaces, I can't open doors anymore because it's not a rear wheel drive, I had to get a custom headrest made, I can't reach things that I used to be able to reach, I feel "handicapped" using this chair...all the while saying he just has to get used to a new chair and he'll eventually be ok with it. NOT!

He has been in the new chair consistantly for 4 days now. After charging the battery each night, on day 4 the battery runs down after normal usage. It has a 16 hour range compared to his Quickie with a 35 hour range - the new chair only cost 5x more - go figure! As we're talking today, he tells me he absolutely hates the C300 and wants to keep using his old chair, which still works, it's just been discontinued and he was eligible for a new chair through his insurance. He thought the new chair would help with its added features like reclining.

So he now has a $30000 chair that he never wants to use again. He's going to try talking to his insurance company about returning it. And he's going to find out if parts will be available for his T200.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Has anyone made a similar switch in chair styles and been happy afterwards? Or just as unhappy? I want him to be totally comfortable and happy, but wondering what options we have if any with the C300.

Thanks, Cheryl
