WOW! I had been considering getting a Marvel soon but... After reading some of these great posts I will postpone my order for a while.

I've been riding wheelchairs for 30 years, had a PRC once and then a succession of 5 Quickies. One that I just converted into a beach chair, is a Titanium, and now with only one workable chair, I need a second and the marvel looked like the one but now I am not so sure. I have a problem with what looks like it is hard to transfer into because of the clothing guard type side panels. Does that long armed front wheel axle come with the chair or is it an extra charge?

My Quickie Ti bought 12 years ago, has been altered slightly and always put on new wheel bearings and upholstery every four years. It is like new and handles so good it will remain my main chair but I still need that other chair. Not sure what to get?

I drive a Honda Odyssey with the second row seats removed with a custom industrial quality vinyl covered 4 inch foam pad on the floor that I slide in on to through the side door using straps on the ceiling then pull my chair in behind me. This has worked fine for five years. I turned the push handles in and had them welded together creating a 'towel bar' style pull handle that is handy for pulling the chair into the van.


Thanks for all of those great posts on theMarvel, but the price, the money comes out of my pocket, is pricey for me. I'm looking in the $2,000 to $2,500 range.

Anybody want to try explaining why this chair is so expensive in the UK ive priced one up and it cost £5000. which is $7,549.07us. dont say postage cause there no way, it would bump the price up that much.

As far as I know the long armed axle that changes out to go on the front doesn't come with it nor has it actually been developed enough for them to start selling it at all. The side guards aren't what got me on the transferring as they can be removed, it was not having the bar that comes out and down that is normally beside your leg that most people use to put their hand on that I didn't care for. They do have some small handles that attach to both sides that can be used, but they are very small. I was really really thinking of getting one and even went to see a demo, but then I saw that they were having business issues, then the two guys in chairs that designed it pretty much had a hostile takeover and they got pushed out of the company with no compensation, so really changed my mind on supporting a company that would do that. A few weeks ago I finally met some one that had one and he said he hasn't had any issue with it. He's also a teenager and weighs like 120 lbs and can throw himself around like a ragdoll so the transferring issue that you and I have didn't bother him a bit.

As for a chair in that price range, have you looked at a Tilite? You could order one from Sportaid for less then two grand, of course that's without any options. I've had 4 different quickies myself, but after getting my Ti ZRA a few years ago I'm not in a hurry to go back, just seems to be a much better made chair. Some people have no problems with quickies, but I had issues with every one that I had, from breaking the frame to constantly having issues with the hardware that attaches the back to the frame, which was an issue with every one of em. I haven't had any such issue with my Tilite.

so I have been looking and wanting a marvel and yesterday I went to see the rep and I got some interesting info I thought I would share with you guys
first of all, marvel got bought out by cervelo ( http://www.marvelpro.com/ ) and the 2 guys that came up with the design don't work on the marvel any more.
I was also told that cervelo is not sure its going to continue to make the marvel because its not selling very well so if you get one and you need parts later on you might be stuck
he also told me that the marvel was like a good prototype and that it needed improvements that are not being done because the 2 guys dont work on it any more
the rep told me the chair has some problems, not major but there are there
1- the bolt that holds the front caster forks has a tendency to come loose
2- since the chair is very customizable it has many moving parts that you need to keep an eye on (screws coming loose and stuff like that)
3- there are issues with the front wing
he didn't know if its the axle pin or the sleeve in to where it fits in to but it is hard to get in and out and he has had a couple of customers call him and tell him that the front wing just came off
the dealer told him they were going to fix these problems but he has not sold any recently so hes not sure if they have
I talked to one of his customers with a Marvel who has spinalbifedal (sorry if I spelled it wrong) and is very active and he told me he has experienced the problems but even with that he says it is the BEST chair he has ever had
the rep told me the price was around $7000 but he could get it down to $6000 about $1500 more than like a very nice Ti Lite
im still thinking about it but I hope this helps out

There are alway 2 sides to every story, and to their credit the other parties involved havent engaged in an online sledging match.

although it is sad that the 2 guys (christian and jeff) are no longer involved and i wish them the best. Marvel are well and truly back in business.

They are selling more chairs than even and further development and ongoing improvement on the chair is happening.
I would actually say the future looks bright for this product despite its recent turmoil.

I have a marvel and I have to say its one of the best rides Ive ever had in a chair. I have bad back pain and the ride was what I was after and the upgraded shock is like a dream when hammering up and down cerbs. That said I am looking to sell it! I really do like it but getting it in and out the car is just a bit more difficult because of my condition and looking for something as lightweight as possible. Ive posted on the classified forum if anyone is interested.

I have a Marvel and love it, it ticks every box for me. After reading this from CareCure forum today im rather upset with Cervelo! One of the reasons I got the Marvel was because it was made by two guys in wheelchairs for poeple in wheelchairs.

Looks like I'm going to eat my words... after reading Marvels News Page Marvel now has Hands On Concepts or HOC on board helping with development. HOC are a pretty amazing company making one of the most intersting sitski's and wheelchair that I've seen Much in the way Marvel something that is outside the box.

As Qman said, there are two sides to every story and I would love to know the other side. But the future looks bright, very bright....Bring on the CNC machined replacement parts for my Marvel .

I got my marvel and all I can say is it is wonderful and its one of those things you dont know how good it is until you try one
I love it so smooth, it is a bit heavier but to me it is worth it
but for those that have marvels let me know if you have had these problems
I have had it for a month and this part came unglued looks like
yes marvel is sending me a new one but is this a one time thing or have you guys experienced this problem ??

Nope that never happened to me...most was the little release pin to fold down the back broke off...and they replaced it no problem...would you say this is the best chair you ever owned? (so far i would)
