Watched "Inside Job" yesterday. It is absolutely incredible how over a period of so few years the bankers and politicians managed to take all the locks and checks and controls off the Financial Sector until it became organised fraud and theft on a massive scale. These guys were and in many cases still are utterly unbelievable !
It's a must watch if you have any interest in how the Bankers destroyed the global economy!

Bumping this - reference to Simon's thread in the General section.
(My iPad won't allow me to quote in another thread, sorry.)
Yes, this film is great.

I went to the cinema last night.
This film is the absolute success in France and Germany at the moment. Hardly possible to get tickets. And worth seeing ...
.... an incredible mix of the melancholy and the totally funny and the heart-warming ...
great actors. A very French film. True story, BTW.
Not sure everybody likes the non-politically-correct humour. I did. My SCI friend did, too.

Intouchables
From Wikipedia
Intouchables (Untouchable) is a French film directed by Olivier Nakache and Éric Toledano.
In just 9 weeks after its release in France on November 2, 2011, it became the second most successful French film of all time (in number of spectators) in the French box office, behind the 2008 film Welcome to the sticks.
The feel-good dramatic comedy has become a cultural phenomenon in France where it was voted cultural event of the year 2011 by 52% of the French.
The movie tells the development of the improbable friendship between Philippe, a wealthy tetraplegic, and Driss, a young offender of Senegalese descent, who is hired as his live-in carer.
The plot of the film is inspired by a true story discovered by the directors in a 2004 documentary film.
--------------------------
The film won the Tokyo Sakura Grand Prix award given to the best film at the Tokyo International Film Festival and the Award for Best Actor to both Francois Cluzet and Omar Sy in 2011.
In the United States , a review published in Variety finds the movie "offensive" ,"which flings about the kind of Uncle Tom racism one hopes has permanently exited American screens". In the film Driss (Omar Sy) is of Senegalese descent. Most French journalists do not understand such an interpretation and highlight the cultural issue that America has with anything linked to ethnicity.
-------------------
(I chose the German trailer as the English version focuses on scenes I like a lot less. No German necessary - the scenes speak for themselves.)
Disclaimer: I apologize for this really LONG post .. I just couldn't decide what to leave out.

I just saw "The King's Speech."
That was a good'un! Highly recommended by an American who, for whateverthereason, very much enjoys movies about the royals, even after his fore father relatives fought so hard to excommunicate from them.

Yes, it was a good movie, except that I found it excruciating having to wait for him to finish whatever it was he was saying. You could probably paint the Great Wall of China and have the paint dry before he arrived at the conclusion of some of his briefer sentences.

Agreed Bongorum,
I found myself mouthing the words for him, much like the other actors were.
An older one I just saw from 2006, "The Cinderella Man" starring Russell Crow was also good.
A true life story about a boxer who comes from nothing, as he tries to make some money just to put food on the table for his family during the great depression era.
4/5 Stars.
