I went and saw My Life In Ruins with a friend of mine who really felt like seeing a chick flick. It was pretty cute. VERY cheesy. And it may not be a movie but I just watched the True Blood Season 1 box set and it was AWESOME. That show kicks ass. Totally bizarre, spooky, witty, clever and funny all at the same time.

Saw "The Happening" directed by M Night Shyamalan

His movies are scary in a thought provoking sense, not necessarily a gory sense.
I liked it mosly because it wasn't a chop-em-up psycho thriller. I guess I've outgrown that genre or they've just gotten to scripted and predictable.

His last movie, "The Village" was good too. Scary, but with a real story line and also thought provoking.

I love his films in general. Very thought provoking indeed. Movies like Signs, The Village, Lady in the Water, I own and love to watch over and over again. I like that they creep me out but without the chopping-body-parts-gore factor. I mean, sometimes I enjoy a good gorey horror movie but most horror movies these days are cheesy crap.

A few weeks ago I bought Beetlejuice at Best Buy because it was really really cheap. A friend of mine and I watched it twice in a row because we had forgotten how awesome that movie is and got such a kick out of it. Total classic. Tim Burton is fabulous. I can't wait for his Alice in Wonderland film that he's currently filming!

Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers - Running Down A Dream

One of the best rocumentories I've seen. Not only do we see the band's personal and musical evolution, we also get a glimpse into the life of a master poet/songwriter, the wheres, whens and whos that helped shape him and his unwavering ethics that helped change the music industry.

Don't miss this 2 DVD set, it's fantastic :tease:

I saw "UP" & "Ice Age 3".

"UP" funny & cute movie but bring some tissues.......I wont ruin the where or why for anyone.

"Ice Age 3" funny as the others were & so far so good I'm not turned off by the idea of a 4th........but that could be pushing it. ;)

Watched "Knowing" with Nick Cage.

It was slow and had good promise....then it fell flat.

Also watched the remake of "The day the earth stood still" It was good, but I still love the original.

I may upset my fellow nerds with this post, sorry!

Harry Potter and the Half - Blood Prince.

It was bad...

Slow to move the story along, boring.

I can overlook some differences from the book, I understand fitting 650 pages into 2 hours of film will require some cuts of subplots but adding stupid scenes that have nothing to with the story and cutting others that serve to further the plot or give some understanding to the plot is not good, in fact it is shit. Like, no having the first battle of hogwarts!? that was a huge plot in the book and they just had the death eaters show up with no battle and had Bellatrix destroy the great hall.

Maybe my nerdy side is just pissed off because everyone loved it except me and a few fellow nerds.

Watched the Hangover the other night and I have to say that it lived up to everything good I had heard about it. I had tears rolling several different times from laughing so hard. I honestly can't remember a movie that had that many funny moments in it. Best comedy i have seen in a while.

Slumdog Millionaire--Yah I'm a Netflix movie renter.

This was the best movie I've seen in a VERY long time. Really touching.

Edit to add, I KNEW this movie had to be mentioned in this thread already . . . . . but the FIRST damn post?!
Oh well. Better late than never.

I am currently half-paying attention to Confessions of a Shopaholic on the movie channel I get. It's absolutely god awful. NO ONE watch it. Worst piece of shizz I've seen in a long time.

Saw "Last House On The Left" & it was pretty good. It's mostly a suspense thriller more than like a chop um up scary kind for those of you who don't like horror.......it isn't horror at all. It was a good movie though.

GRAN TERINO you should REALLY see it! :D

I hit the Redbox quite often. I hadn't rented a movie in probably 3 or 4 years until about 3 months ago when I ran across Redbox. They are machines at different stores, pretty much all Wal-Marts, that vent movie rentals. You pick a movie, pay $1 and take it home. You have until 9PM the next night to return it or get charged another $1. So it's $1 for each day late and after 20 days or so it's yours if you don't take it back. I drive by 3 places that have these on my way to and from work. The selection isn't always the best and some times I don't get anything, but most times I can find something worth watching in it. Have done a whole lot of catching up on movies I missed at the theaters in the last few months.

Just saw "THE READER" last night. It was good. Another WWII-ish time piece. I liked it MOSTLY because it didn't solely focus on the war or it's surrounding matter, so that was a relief.

TO, I jut saw the "DISTRICT 9" trailer. It definately looks like the next block buster sci-fi hit!

I watched 'The Visitor' a couple of nights ago on HBO (or one of those movie channels). I saw it in the theater when it came out, just a wonderful and powerful movie. Very sad, however. I've also seen recently in the theater was 'Away We Go' with John Krasinski (Jim from the office) and Maya Rudolph. Great film with lots charm and laughter. Last film I saw in the theater was 'The Hangover'. I really didn't expect to like it, but I loved it. Laughed all the way through. Just thinking about it now makes me laugh! :)
