Ok, we are flying down to Bristol next month and are going to hire a car for the w/e. Now apart from me there is my husband and 2 year old son. we will be travelling light with just 1 holdall between us. Now,my chair is what Im worried about. I have a RGK Performance chair with rigid frame. The wheels are quick release but the back doesnt fold down or aything like that. So what sort of car could we get way with? Ive been looking at roomier hatchbacks such as the VW Golf, or Astra. Do you think the boot space would be wide enough? I used to drive a golf and seem to remember they were fairly spacious. Its justthat if we go up to an estate size, it would be a considerable hike in price and to be honest we need to keep cost down if possible.

Cheers and thanks in advance.

I have a rigid framed RGK and it fits into the boot of a new style Fiesta. The frame fits into the boot of just about anything, its just the wheels might not quite fit as well, so if you dont mind them being on the back seat....

I would avoid the tiny cars, like Kas or Pandas, though
