about 6 months before my sci i learned how to play the guitar. at the time i had a hand me down guitar, nothing fancy. since the accident ive only regained my right hand finger functions. so im looking into buying a left handed guitar so my right hand can hold down chords and what not. any suggestions on a good quality acoustic plug in guitar? im trying not to spend more than $500 but im willing to bend a little. thx in advance.

I have 2 words for you jaquie.. ok well, one. SEAGULL. they are for the money the very easiest playing and best made guitars avalible hand crafted in canada out of solid woods. comparable to guitars that start out in the $$$$. you can get a nice one at your local guitar center for around $400. thats what i paid for mine. just google "seagull guitars" or look in musiciansfriend.com

Got a 57' Fender Srat, I'll sell for 5 million........

Fender also made an Ovarian, [I think that was the name] acoustic which was easy to play and sounded great.....

oh p.s. guys i'd love to have one that has a solid spruce top w/ rosewood on the sides and back. but really i want something different looking up the neck. like id love to have a design up the frets. being picky sucks when it comes to needing a lefty. ugh. :drooldrip:

Just string it upside down!, hehe.

Being picky brings the price up, too. Ebay and Craigslist will get you the better prices, but you might have to wait quite a while if you are going to be very selective,,, ( more discete way of saying picky).

I got one of these and love it:
little martin guitar

Not sure if they do a left handed but you could certainly string it upside down if you wanted.

The shorter scale neck feels like an electric guitar neck and its easy to finger chords for struming.

It is possible to relearn chord shapes upside down so maybe the left handed guitar wouldn't be needed?

The great thing is it fits in an airplane overhead locker so you can chill out by campfires anywhere in the world!
How does it feel to feel?

"Learned" the guitar in 6 months, huh? Maybe you made a good start. For $500, you won't find much in the way of intricate inlays on the fretboard, at least not quality. Ibanez makes a decent electric acoustic, I've got one with a flame maple top, arched back etc. I did have to do a bit of bridgework to get the action tight enough. Stringing a regular guity upsidedown worked for Jimi, but unless you want a cutaway to get to the higher frets you will need a lefty. Buying a guitar without holding it could be a mistake. Pawn shops are good places to find good deals, but you've got to know what you're looking at.

I didn't say I was a master at it, but I did learn how to play songs I wanted to play fairly well. As for the ibanez, my cousin has one and I like hers but the only leftys I've been able to find are either black or have mahogany on the back which I'm not interested in exspecially if I'm going to spend so much money. Thanks anyway.

Hey Illinois ovarian is a kind of cancer i think but an Ovation is one of the best electric acoustics I've ever handled. which may not say much. But your fender is forty years older than mine...which I think I paid 50 and a quarter for.

There two ovation lefties on Ebay right now both starting at 200$ I thought this one looked nicer- http://cgi.ebay.com/...t...93:1|294:50

Seems I missed the boat on this one, but the Ibanez Exotic Wood series look really nice and are a little different. They do a leftie model as well.

Awe Jimmie ain't you cute!!!

When I decided to learn how to play many moons ago, I just bought a plain, cheap $200 Yamaha. I figured if I ever got really good, I'd buy a nicer one. My Yamaha still plays well.
