Hi folks I have a friend who is C5/C6 - used to drive before his accident, however, does not now. Anyway, he is transferring to USA through his job and wants to know what sort of passenger vehicles are avaialble that have been adapted to take wheelchairs. His wife will be his driver. I tried some websites but not having much luck.

So, if any of Simon's USA posters could help me out I would appreciate it.

It does not require to be too big and he would prefer a vehicle that looked like a "car" as opposed to a car that looked like a "van."

Thanks folks.

Gary,

Check with the state he is transferring to they should have their own website.
For example here in Florida we have the Brain & Spinal Cord Injury Program and they help pay for modifications in the home and certain equipment if there is no insurance. Here is there website http://faast.org/bscip.cfm.

Possibly they have a chapter in that state.

Good Luck to you and your friend.

Here in Texas, they have a few places...
Here is one that even has used vehicles... http://www.adaptivedriving.com
They do conversions for a lot of different vehicles. They make a Scion XB which is pretty cool.

I would give them a call. They have connections all over the states. So they can point you in the right direction.
Forgot to mention http://www.wheelchairgetaways.com. They have a lot of locations and classifieds too.
