hello...im in a creative writing class at my school (its my senior year of high school, lol) and we are writing one act palys this grading period. well, there is this contest i want to enter and the guidelines state that the main character has to be disabled, so i decided to have this boy his name will be Holden and hes the star quater back in a small town high school. well anywho Holden and some of his friends go bridge jumping on an old man's private property and Holden falls on some rocks injuring his back. his friends pull him out of the stream but they hear someone coming and they run off and leave him. it just so happen though that its just some goth kid's from school. Damien(my other main character who suffers from depression) despite his friends objections stay to help holden. Damien dials 911 the police and the ambulance come and Damien gets taken into custody and is blamed for pushing Holden off the bridge. Holden of course goes along with it so people wont think any less of him and the whole town turns agianst Damien. damien and holden will most likely end up being friends.

thats all ive got right now, but i was wonder if any one can shrare some of their experiences with me to aide me in writing this play.....
ive been trying to find information for weeks and today i found this website....

but thank you for you time and thnks in advance to any one who helps me out

have a wonderful day :)

Where can he feel? If it was a dive, his break will be high and he won't be able to move or feel his arms. If he fell and broke his back, he'll be able to move and feel his arms. Is he going to recover? He may have pressure on his spinal cord, not spinal-cord damage, and if it's just pressure, either from a dislocation that's resulted in a vertebrae pressing on the cord or from swelling, he may be fine in a few weeks or months. Both guys are scared but one of them will be thinking relatively clearly--it can be either one--and will know that to move him will increase the risk of damaging or further damaging his cord. But can he safely be left? Are there bears? Good luck.

i am going to focus on the disability as much as the length of the play will allow me...it has to be forty pages long. and see i decided to tackle two disabilities in it. Holden is going to injure his back and Damien suffers from depression....because alot of people dont normally think of depression like that. I want one of my characters to seem stable (damien) although he isnt and Holden definatly isnt b/c he's so upset. but i also have to have a moving plot which is what im working on....none of this is really set in stone im still developing and im still compiling facts....when i get some of it written i'll post here. and agian thank you so much for your time

um i really havent thought all that stuff out yet....but thank you for all the info! :mfrlol: it sure will be helpful. i really want to write this but i dont want to go into it blindly and have sound stupid, i want it to be believable and i want people to enjoy it and learn something from it. like respect...i hate when the kids here at school make fun of the kids in wheelchairs....i want to punch them sometimes(the mean kids), how can you be so mean....it breaks my heart.

oh and ill post some of my play....what i have written on here some time soon
thank you (and i dont think there are any bears...that would really suck.)
