My hubby bought this used car for me for my birthday (which was yesterday). It already had all the controls installed in them. The lady that owned the car was handicapped and bought it brand new but has only put 33,000 miles on it. I have always loved to drive and have always done the majority of the driving for us when we are out together.
Anyway, since my paralysis, I have really been missing driving and feel that this is the last step to my independence. So, my dear husband bought me a car!! I love him so much for this! I will try to post pictures but I have never done it before so we will see!:muahaha:

Have you tried dragging it in by yourself, yet? Keep a blanket in the car to protect the leather.

It may seem impossible right now,, but after a dozen dry runs in the driveway, nobody will be able to keep you at home.

Happy birthday,, and happy motoring.

No, I haven't even got to drive it yet. My husband is picking it up today as I write! It is 4 hours away so he will not be home until this evening. I asked him if I could go and drive home!!:muahaha: He thought that might be a little too soon and maybe some practice would be a good idea. I am a little more spunky than he is!:drunk:
I can't wait to get in this car and drive. I am craving it something awful. So, no, I have also not tried dragging the chair in by myself but I see these people do it on You Tube and I feel confident that I can handle it. We will see!!
By the way, great idea about the blanket! I will be sure to get one.

Driving that Olds will be like driving a comfy leather couch (with a good bit of zip to it). A friend of mine had one, and I LOVED to ride in it on road trips. I usually am the one who wants to drive, but when I got in her car, it was just SOOOOO comfy. B)

The car looks great. What is most important, however, is the additional independence and freedom that result from being able to drive again!

Some people under go corporate reorganizations some under go spiritual reorganizations. I However have undergone a reorganizations of the spine, not figuratively mind you though there has been a bit of that as well.

I drove the car all over our county today!! I have had a blast! The hand controls got much more comfortable as the day wore on but really they are very easy. It is kind of mind over matter. When I first got in the car, my first thought was that I needed to put my foot on the brake to be able to shift out of park so I had to stop and think how I was supposed to do that! After about 30 minutes, I felt really comfortable with the brake and gas and how hard to push it. A few times your brain thinks that your leg needs to push the pedals but since they won't go it doesn't happen anyway!! I felt like I was concentrating all day to make sure that I was being careful. But, boy, has it been a fun day!! Now, to show off the car to everyone at church tomorrow. I am afraid that pride is a sin and I am a preacher's wife so I better be careful!!!:muahaha: Just kidding!:)
