I'm a c-5 quadraplegic going on 8 years this May. I currently am getting 16 hours of attendant care paid for by my insurance company to my care-givers per day. I'm wondering what kind of assistance other c-5 quads receive and what their insurance companies pay. I was injured while working and have workers comp and auto insurance and reside in Michigan. Also, if anyone is familiar with Michigan laws and what I'm entitled to I would appreciate hearing from you.

I live in a supportive housing building. I have my own apartment - a big bright apartment designed especially for someone in a power wheelchair. There are staff on site in the building 24 hours. I have 2 hours in the morning, 1 hour at dinner, 1 hour at night and 15 minutes every 3 hours round the clock scheduled but I can call at any time if I need something in between or cancel any if I need some alone time or have company. I love it. It is so much better than relying on someone to come from offsite or waiting for hours for someone to come pick up something I have dropped. My building is 20 supportive housing units in a 100 unit building so it is also integrated. It is called Tobias House.

I am also a C5 quad with a brain injury that has left me with no use of my right side.

I live in Ontario, Canada and my attendant care is funded by the provincial government.
