Two nights ago I had about 5 big vodka tonics. This is the first time I really had a lot to drink since my injury. I cathed extra that night. I went to bed at 11pm and cathed before bed. I woke up at 5 am and noticed my stomach felt very big and hard. I cathed myself and it was 1600 ccs. I was surprised I didn't just leak myself but I take ditropan for bladder spasms and think that may be why I didnt. Now for the last two days I am having alot of "pain" in my lower abdomen which I can't technically feel. I am also having a lot more spasms in my legs and abdomen as well. Does anyone think I could have damaged my bladder from having such a high cath ??? Has anyone had a similar circumstance after drinking too much. I am thinking that maybe my bladder is just sore from being extended this far and maybe this is why I am having the spasms. I hope I didn't do any damage down there. If I did I think I would probably be able to tell but I don't know. Any thoughts ???? From now on I think I will stay away from the booze just to be safe. And if I do drink I won't drink this much. Thanks all

I don't drink alcohol, but I had a similar incident in rehab.

I had a foley cath become clogged and it go undiscovered for many hours I ended up being rushed to the hospital for extreme pain in my bladder, after a painful removal of the cath and insertion of another one I voided over 2000cc of retained urine.

I was sore for a few days but they said no harm was done. If you are really worried make an appointment with your urologist.

I would think the back pressure on the kidneys would be a greater concern than the stretching of the bladder; however, I don't think this one occurrence would have any lasting damage.

Just my opinion, as I'm not a doctor.

I did a 1200 and felt like I was gonna have a heart attacke while trying to get the cath in lol. I don't think you have anything to worry about at this point in the game.
