Hey, sorry to post in this forum but for some reason I get an error whenever I try to access the other sections today... so move it as necessary.

ANYWAY I really need you guys to weigh in and tell me if you know what's going on/if you've experienced this.

I do my own digital stimulation now -- and ever since "I" have been doing it this new problem has risen:

After empty my bowels (about 1 to 1.2 hours) and after my shower, I get dressed and perhaps 30 minutes to an hour later I get extremely sweaty and I get uncontrollable shivers -- I pack on 2 blankets and suffer through it until I fall asleep. This has really affected my life-style, because now I make sure I do all my studying and everything important THEN go to the bathroom very late at night so I can sleep through the shivers which always come after the bowel movement...

what the heck is going on? I've went to the doctor, he "checked me" and there isn't a problem down there. What do you guys think?

Do you get any bleeding at all when doing the stim?
Have you been tested for a UTI?
All I can think of, hope you sort it out. :)

It will most probably be an AD reaction. I've always had it, like many tetras, and like you go at night because of it.

I've been using the peristeen system now for over a year and it is utter joy to be able to go in the morning if I need to and not be ill afterwards. I still tend to go at night time, though it usually takes only 30-40 mins now. Utter joy!

Hi Izzy,

Bowel routine has caused me plenty of trouble over the years.

I put "peristeen" through the search engine and came up blank. Please elaborate on this method or point me to the documentation.

Thanks,

Gordon

Hi Gordon

Go to the Health section, bowel and bladder and theres a long thread there - curre3ntly about the 10th thread down the first page. (sorry I'm rubbish at links)

We can get the supplies free over here in the UK, but I understand is charged in Oz, and not approved yet in the states. I'm not sure where you are. Any questions please ask, there are many happy converts to Peristeen on here.

Thanks guys!

Peristeen + Colonoscopy...

I've got some research to do! thanks again for putting me in a direction!

I'll follow up in this thread whenever I find out wtf is going on exactly.

@Izzi -- can you please explain what you have 'always had' if you don't mind? and you say Tetra's... I'm a paraplegic. Anyhow, please elaborate on what you've experienced/others you've spoken to experienced.

Hiya

Yes, I saw your level details from C7 down, so guessed you got AD or a sympathetic nervous problem at least. Loads of tetras I know feel really rubbish (sweating, shivers etc) after a BM and maybe your level works like this too even though you class yourself as a para. I think (don't quote me as a medical pro) paras down to T6 still get AD.

I used to go in bed, still dreadful, I'd soak through towels, both during and after, get burnt by the 2 or 3 covered hot water bottles that I relied on to try to stop the shakes. Thats why I go at night time, I couldn't function and would be ill for the whole day if I went in the morning. By ill I would always sweat the whole day, the shivers, end up reverting to some alcohol to numb the pain.

Now I use Peristeen. I changed purely for its time saving. My life was being ruled by the huge length of time taken going to poop. It has been a fabulous transformation for me and my wonderfully patient husband/carer. But one of the side effects has been that I feel so well both during and after a movement. Its such a joy to feel well, and I've been able to go in the mornings too and function like a human being for the whole day afterwards. Going at night is a breeze, finish with a shower and no sweats in the night so I actually get up fresh and dandy.

But I still do sweat and get the shakes some days, not bowel related. Its often hard to put my finger on why it happens but it happens a lot to tetras, frequently we sweat only on one side with say one side of your upper lip wet and the other dry. Some times one hand may be like a block of ice and the other warm. I have a few paracetomols even though I am feeling no pain, and that often helps enough to stop it. Maybe its my bladder, maybe an ingrowing toe nail, maybe I'm sitting not right and can't get re-adjusted, if I work it out then I can stop. If I don't then I stay rubbish and sweat all day.

How long have you been injured? how long has this been going on for? any other clues as to what you may have changed in your routine to start sweating if its a new thing.

Good luck, & feel free to ask more if required.

I xx

Izzy,

This Peristeen product looks very good. I looked into the kind of enema kits commonly sold by the natural medicine crowd as well as those in the sex shops. Both sufferred from the hygeine perspective. Cleaning was both critical and difficult. Peristeen on the other hand is largely disposable. Throwing away a rectal cath is a lot easier than making it safe again.

Thanks for the tip. After thirty years of manual, this might be the thing for me.

Best Regards,

Gordon

Sounds like AD.
Probably caused by a terrific orgasm you're not feeling from the now self inflicted digi-stem you're using for B/C.

Swordfish my boy, it appears you've fallen in love with yourself. Glad to hear you've met someone nice.

Lidocaine comes in a topical gel that can be applied to your anus before you do the dig stem. This numbs the area, preventing your body from reacting through AD. I've gotten headaches and chills before from my bowel program, possibly due to a vigorous case of overstimulation. Anyway, the Lidocaine worked like a charm. Just apply it a few minutes before you begin the dig stem. Each application lasts approximately an hour.

Good luck

E-dog: Thanks for the laugh! haha. I always knew I preferred my own company...

but on a serious note, is that plausible? It sounds like it just might be?

Izzy: thanks so much... I'll ask more questions when I get them

-- I've been injured for a while now, since 2000. I noticed it happened in the past year... the biggest change is that "I" now do my own digi stim -- whereas before I had nurses/mother. Independence comes at a cost, eh?
