Long time reader, first post.

I just wanted to say hi from Houston : )

At first I came to do some research on a new pup. Now I come back all the time to see what is new. Thanks for building a great community.

You sound close to me! Which direction from Dallas? Or is it a big enough city that you live in for me to recognize?

Aw, I spent a lot of time in Mesquite playing softball. I'm from a tiny town north of McKinney which no one has heard of, but yes we are here. Small world!

Lots of DFW folks here! Need to have a big party! I'm in the middle of it all at 635/75, but work in Addison and wife has now opened her business in Grapevine, so I'm all over the place.

While I'm here though I might as well pimp the big Dallas extravaganza here again for this year at Bachman Lake on June 6, come out for some fun and lots of other stuff. We have the 3-3 nation wheelchair basketball turnament finals on that day as well as having booths set up selling stuff to make our lives easier and other stuff set up just for fun. Wanna ride a jet ski or do some kneeboarding on the lake? Be sure to wear a bathing suit! Last year I met up with the TiLite guy and got a free hat and T-shirt and then he mailed me some new casters because he noticed mine was wearing out. Tons of different events and food as well. At the end of it all is a huge give away. To many prizes to list but several cruise trips that are given away at the end of it all. I ended up going home with about 4 items least year from the drawing and then used two of them for Christmas presents.

If you are in the DFW area, you really should try to come out.

Well to be honest I'm not 100% sure. From the flier I received it says doesn't say anything about a charge and even has Free Entry in an outlined Box, so I am assuming it is free. Years past it was like $5 to register, which got you a arm band showing you were registered and a free T-shirt, hat, camera bag...etc. what ever the free gift is that year. The registering is done there, nothing to do ahead of time unless you want to participate in the stuff on the 5th(Billiards, skeet shoot tournament and Texas Hold'em Fundraiser. Anyone can play in the Texas Hold'em, but I think it is $100 to play, since it is a fundraiser after all.

This one also says Cook out is free for physically challenged participants and $5.00 for non-physically challenged. (last year they had students and teachers from the culinary program at the Art Institute(where my wife graduated from) there cooking lunch.

To be eligible for the drawing, you must be physically challenged and need an orthopedic device (i.e. brace, wheelchair, cane, artificial limb or active member in wheelchair sports). Special cases will be reviewed.(You must be preset to win.)

That was from what the flier said. From past experience I have seen AB's doing some of the activities, however it is completely up to the person running that booth, spot, site...what ever you wanna call it, as they are all spread out around the Bachman recreation center. Since this is for the physically challenged, disabled..whatever you wanna call us, then if there are 10 guys there in a chair waiting I wouldn't bet on them letting an AB do the whatever it is. Normally though when it first opens (9 am) it's pretty empty and you can pretty much get half of the things done without anyone else around. If you are going to stay for the drawings then I recommend you try to hit every one of them, even if your not going to do it, let em know you really aren't interested but wanna ticket for their event, more tickets you at the end of the day, higher chance to win something.

Of course with that said, a lot of the items I don't need and have had my name drawn a couple of times that I just told them to redraw, but then again they have given away wheelchairs, sets of wheels and tires, cushions...etc.(stuff that we can always use).

I feel so bad guys, I totally overslept, by the time I got up and dressed to go... the George Strait concert for the new stadium traffic was HORRENDOUS. So we went to Houston instead!

Did y'all have a good time????

Hi there,

I totally miss Dallas. I'm from Plano/Frisco area. I just moved to Philadelphia and it's so different. I'm always a Texan in heart. Just want to stop by and say "Hi".
