I'm a t6 para and I have never had a uti that I know of. What are the symptoms? I've been fortunate enough to have used the Bard Touchless closed system catheters since my injury in Nov of 06. Now that I'm on medicare they're not covered until I get two UTI's. Wouldn't I know if I had one? Any help would be super cool.

Thanks,

Eric

What up? I'm an x motocross/arenacrosser and I am now a professional t-6 para. I am now a suspension tech for motox bikes and just kinda hold the fort down here at home. Want more? Hit me up and I'll chat your face off!

Hi Eric
It depends where you can feel. I up until recently never knew whether i had UTI's except by looking at colour of urine and observing increased amounts of sediment.

This year however, I "felt" my bladder pains with a vengeance. It is a searing pain and I would compare it to "childbirth pains". I'm nor sure how Men would describe the pain, but basically if you do feel around the pelvic area, believe you me, you will feel it.

Otherwise if colour of urine is consistently dark, despite intake of liquids, see a doctor.

Hope this helps.

Hi,
I have only ever had one UTI (lucky me HUH) & don't ever want a repeat.
My symptoms:
Bad fever (hot & cold with sweats & shivers)
Dark smelly urine
bladder spasm

also lots of debris & even signs of blood can be a indication.
I am probably depriving a village of an idiot
I use to be indecisive but Im not so sure anymore

Hi Eric.

Telltale signs of a UTI include :

  • Cold/Flu like symptoms
  • Fever
  • Shivers
  • Abdominal Pain
  • Blood/Sediment in urine
  • Abnormal smelling urine
  • Frequent urination, and feeling of being 'unable to empty' in people with intact sensation
  • Burning sensation, for people with intact sensation
  • Malaise
  • Low Energy/Lethargy
  • Referred pain in some people

If you want a more diagnostic method, without going to the doctors, you can buy a home urine test kit like the CHEMSTRIP7 kits from most urological supply groups (CHEMSTRIP7 Kits)

There is no winner. You just give up, or keep trying.
