this past summer Kevin took me to Hawaii for a week and a half. well i started thinking about summer (its not that far away from now, its already mid February!) and he will be out of the hospital and hopefully doing better so i was thinking where i could take him this time! we love to go to the beach, but I'm not sure if we can do that anymore. we also to love ridding (horses) together. horses is his life. ummm, he just likes to have a good time. he's a very upbeat person. oh, and likes to travel the world. if you have any suggestions please send them this way! :D

Hi Carly
I can't offer definite suggestions as am on other side of the pond but in answer to 2 things you raise. There are special w/chairs which will go on sand, they have ball type wheels and over here there are riding centees for disabled people, must be in USA too?
I would say travelling abroard would be a bit ambitious first time away but as things become more settled over time then its definitely an option.
Good luck
Simon

Dear Carly,

just have a look on that.

Villas made for wheelchairs

They also have horsebackrides here and the sea is very close. Special institutions and transportation for disabled persons are also available. There is a heated pool given with a hoist so at least you can have a nice swim at home and if there is no opportunity to go out you will have SAT-TV and a DVD-Player and of course nice weather.

For any details write me an email (christoph@gestiones.com).

California is pretty accessible and very accomodating to people in chairs. If you can afford it, bring him to our state. Our amusement parks are accomodating to chairs and let you go thru the exit for first hand seating. Also, the beaches have the chairs that go on the beach. Some beaches in San Diego have hard packed sand so you can take your chair onto the sand. I have done it at several. On my first outing in the chair, I went to amusement parks since I had children. So I can't speak for the couple's fare. Just remember to have a sense of humor, because things will come up that make you angry :D ...just laugh them away. :D
