Hello Everyone,

I was just curious if anyone else has had difficulty getting insurance companies to cover Lyrica for pain related to spinal cord injuries. I finally got my insurance company to cover the medication, but not after them trying to take every route possible to prevent it from happening. Has anyone else experienced similar issues due to SCI not being listed as an approved use of this medication?

Thanks for any input.

I am having the same problem. I am a 68 y/o T12-L1 incomplete para of 48 years. All these 48 years I have put up with the frequent jolts of hyperesthetic burning pain that keeps you on guard and up tight most of the time. It affects your quality of life negatively. In the past few years I've developed some arthritis and myalgias that are added to it. Then just last month my orthopedist gave me a sample of Lyrica and it was like a miracle drug. After 3 doses the pain was gone, I was able to relax and not be guarded, my depression left, my energy levels rose. It was like I was a new person. This lasted about 5 days until the 14 capsules ran out, and then back with the pain, depression, aches of polymyalgia even worse. I am now on samples but have been rejected by my insurance company because I do not have diabetic neuropathy. Hog Wash, neuropathly is neuropathy and it hurts. I have an appointment with my GP on the 5th of Aug and will ask him to help me appeal this rejection. In the meantime I have one 75mg capsule and thirty 30mg capsules left. After that it is back to the bed and the Vicodin. Let me know of anything that might help me in my attempts to get it approved. Best...
