Has anybody or know of anybody who has had a leg aumputated below the knee because a sore which is leaking and will not heal,
the leg is elevated 20 hours a day .

That would be a real last resort way of dealing with the issue. How long has this been going on for? Have they tried FlaxAid treatment? What else has been done?

Had my right leg taken from the pelvis down because of a sore that wouldn't heal.... Fought it for 13 years, then it turned into osteomyelitis in my pelvis.......

I have it on good authority that FlaxAid (also known as OXYLEN outside Europe), has been extensively researched and proven to work.
It has been shown particularly effective on stubborn sores and ulcers, where everything else failed.
At this time the only way to obtain it, though, is to sign up for the second round of a treatment programme in Poland (impractical), or buy it from a distributor in the U.S. or Canada. The monthly supply of dressings is USD360, but they are large (30x30cm) and can be economized.

Jim, was your infection caused by the bacteria called aureus?

had both ampt at knee in feb, elective surg.....had heels take 2 years to heal, did'nt want to repeat or end up being emerg that took to pelvis or infect thsat killed me...was wary of clots and fighting low blood pressure....so did it as 'pre-emptive' and to improve mobility

one of my brother's 'room mates' in rehab tried it and apparently it worked well for him.

I was at a conference a couple of weeks ago and we had a talk from a maggot therapy company, the results and pictures they showed were amazing. They have developed a new bag of maggots which is used as an enclosed dressing - they described it as a tea bag! Bascally the maggots cannot escape from the bag but still do their job on the wound.

It was very interesting and like I said the results were amazing

jim, if someone had explained to you the worst case scenario to losing the fight w/infec, which you discovered the hard way...would you maybe opted to amp above wound and be done, many years earlier ?
